On the wheel – The trusty Hansen is back up and running! I repaired the internal tensioner and found all its parts and Iโm SPINNING!!!!! First up is the Into the Whirled Cheviot in the โThe Upside Downโ colorway. Our Spin Together team is spinning along and Iโm excited to get back to my wheels. Can we talk about stash?? This particular fiber is from the club I was getting in 2018. I have multiple containment devices in both the home studio and the warehouse and Iโm thinking its time to either spin it or destash it. Whoโs with me?
On the needles – Iโve finished, woven ends in and blocked the test knit of a new design by Thea Colman of Baby Cocktails in my Ross Farm Ashen Wensleydale that will launch in March. I missed the deadline by about 2 days. But Iโm still pretty proud that itโs finished and al ready to go to Nash Yarn Fest! My Shiny Squirrel, which is actually a kit for Bias by Helena Bristow in Oink Pigments Silk/Linen is coming along and Iโm thinking Carbeth is going to the front of the line now.
Sheep & Wool School – This monthโs breed is Jacob. Today, Iโd like to share some FUN FACTS. Did you know that Jacob sheep are helping with research for Tay-Sachs Disease?
Sewing Stuff – Iโve been binding a bunch of stuff this week. Iโve finished hand sewing on the binding of the really big red & pink quilt because as well as several smaller pieces. Iโve got a week left to finish them and Iโm fairly certain I can complete the task.
In Season – Iโve been in a bit of a seasonal funk. I did manage to make another roast and my version of Chicken Parmesan utilizing spaghetti squash instead of pasta to make it more low-carb. I also bake the boneless, skinless chicken breasts to avoid the breading as well. Yesterday I went to my bff Bethโs for Galentineโs Day and took sourdough starters for all the friends attending. Iโm still sort of obsessed with it. The heirloom tomatoes from Tomatofest.com have arrived and Iโm counting the days until I can plant them.Iโm exploring sowing some Poppy seeds and other perennials indoors this week too. I canโt buy all the perennials and annuals Iโd like to put in the garden at $6-20 per pot. If I fail, Iโm just out a couple bucks in seed and my time. Dirt is reusable, so why not try?
On Down the Road – Nash Yarn Fest is coming up only 18 days away – March 15th.. Maryland Sheep & Wool and Great Lakes Fiber Festival will round out the show season in May. Mid-Atlantic Fiber Associationโs conference at Millersburg University in PA is late June. Contemporary Handweavers Guild in Houston in mid-July too.
