On the wheel – Gotland for my new friend Angela is ready to ship out. The tension knob is on its way for my Hansen cherry Classic, and should arrive on Monday! A new one is on the way. On the needles – Still working on the test knit cast of a new design by Thea Colman of Baby Cocktails in my Ross Farm Ashen Wensleydale that will launch in March. Iโve fallen down a rabbit hole and discovered an old kit while organizing and now I want to knit it instead of doing the stuff I need to be doing. Itโs a SHINY SQUIRREL.
Slow Stitching – Iโve been cross-stitching a few little Valentineโs Day things to add to the decor. Iโm working on designs from Little House Needleworks โLoveable Petites โ pattern by Diane Williams.
Sheep & Wool School – This monthโs breed is Jacob. Today, weโre kicking the month off with a discussion on its history. Did you know that Jacob is actually TWO breeds? American Jacob is very different from the UK Jacob. These are supposedly the sheep from the bible, hence the name. You can experience the wool for yourself with one of our Jacob products, or from a local purveyor near you! Check out Alice, Darwin, Chief, Willow or our Jacob roving, Donโt forget to show us what youโve made with Cheviot in January for our Anything Along! Starting in February, all projects completed in our breed of the month and posted to social media tagging us and using the hashtag #rossfarmanythingalong will be entered for a prize to be drawn the first episode of the following month! Sewing Stuff – Iโve been binding a couple of small pieces that I machine-quilted this week and working on a Valentineโs Day present for John. The pattern is called โBetter Togetherโ and the line was a Riley Blake Designs fabric group by Nancy Gervais called โI Love Usโ, which seems appropriate for my guy.
In Season – COMFORT FOOD -So cold and still much snow! This week I whipped up homemade Salisbury Steaks and mashed potatoes with mushroom and onion gravy, Orange Ginger Chicken over rice with broccoli and a bacon, onion and mushroom crustless quiche.
On Down the Road – Nash Yarn Fest is coming up only 43 days away – March 15th.. Maryland Sheep & Wool and Great Lakes Fiber Festival will round out the show season in May. Mid-Atlantic Fiber Associationโs conference at Millersburg University in PA is late June. Contemporary Handweavers Guild in Houston in mid-July too.
