On the needles – Iโve made some great progress on a new Hitofude in my new yarn โEweniceโ. Iโm absolutely loving it and enjoying this knit. Iโm 12.5 repeats of 15 through the first section and on track to be ready for the second section after the drive back to PA for Easter.
Sheep & Wool School – This monthโs breed is Hog Island. Letโs talk about fiber (and also how its NOT a “Colonial Breed”)!
Technique Time – Paper Piecing Sewing Stuff -I have a bit of time left before the next UFO Challenge starts on April 1st, so Iโm doing some fun stuff! I did a few paper pieced blocks to make a Riley Blake Raindrops pillow. I should finish that one up tomorrow morning before we leave for PA. Iโm trying to decide what to do next. I have several small projects and pillow tops that need to be machine-quilted, bound or finished in some way, but Iโm tempted to cut out another project and see if I can get that done in the next almost 2 weeks left of the month. What should I do???
New and Noteworthy – WHOLESALE yarns ready for a LYS near you! Weโve also got over 100 lbs of new yarns coming home from the mill as we speak. I was hoping to have them today to show you, but theyโre held up until Monday. They will be debuting at MDSW and I canโt wait! Weโve used a new mill for these and Iโm excited to see what theyโve created. The folks are just as nice as they can be and the turnaround wasnโt terrible.Two more big orders coming home soon too.
Out and About – We took a quick trip to VA for a little break before the show/racing season starts. We started in Berkeley Springs, WV and then overnighted in Winchester, VA at the George Washington Hotel. After breakfast at Lynette & Terriโs Diner, we headed south to Colonial Williamsburg. We visited two lovely shops while there. My all-time favorite stitchery shop is Liberty Hill Stitch Shop in Williamsburg, and they turned me on to a brand new local yarn shop – Colorful Stitches Fine Yarns in Merchant Square at the edge of the historic area. Bonnie was amazing and I think weโre going to have some big news coming soon! We had great breakfast at the Old Chickahominy House (twice!), and dinner at Christiana Campbellโs Tavern and Berrettโs Seafood House. Sandwiches from The Cheese Shop were spectacular as always!
In Season – Asparagus, strawberries, blueberries and HAM! Iโm excited to be baking for Easter this evening. We are headed to Johnโs cousinโs house for Easter dinner and she asked me to bring a dessert. Iโm thinking old-fashioned strawberry shortcake, angel food cake or maybe even a peach crisp.
On Down the Road – Maryland Sheep & Wool and Great Lakes Fiber Festival will round out the show season in May. Mid-Atlantic Fiber Associationโs conference at Millersville University in PA is late June. Contemporary Handweavers Guild in Houston in mid-July too. Time to start talking about late-summer and fall shows too! Weโve added Michigan Fiber Festival (6 classes!), Flock Fiber Festival (6 classes!), DFW vending and 7 CLASSES at SAFF! Itโs going to get crazy!
