In this class, we will experience several breeds of sheep from islands around the world. Included will be some you may have worked with before and some you may never have even heard of yet! Amy scours (see what we did there?) the fields looking for oddball rare breeds to bring to class and she hopes you’ll find a new favorite! We will start with her favorite American breed that developed practically ferally on an island before moving on to some UK islanders and talk about not only the history and attributes of these awesome sheep, but also their application in your fiber arts journey whether you are a spinner, knitter, crocheter, or weaver. Location Class Tent Room 1 Note: All classrooms are on the Dixon May Fairgrounds, 655 S 1st St, Dixon, CA, and students will get free admission on the day of their workshop(s). Experience Level Beginning Level Skills Knows how to spin and ply OR can be knit/crochet/weave Materials instructor will supply for students handout, raw fleece Students need to bring Spinners: any basic fiber prep equipment you have – flicker, hand cards, combs – as well as a working spinning wheel or spindles. Knitters or Crocheters: needles or hooks appropriate for DK/Worsted weight yarn

Tired of your usual and predictable barber pole skeins? In this class, we will look at hand-dyed fiber braids differently. Create spectacular skeins by learning to control the color repeats in your fiber through fractal spinning. We will prepare and spin samples to find our new favorites. Location Class Tent Room 1 Note: All classrooms are on the Dixon May Fairgrounds, 655 S 1st St, Dixon, CA, and students will get free admission on the day of their workshop(s). Experience Level Beginning Level Skills Knows how to spin and ply Materials instructor will supply for students handout, fiber Students need to bring Spindles or a working spinning wheel with 4 or more bobbins (although there are work-arounds if you don’t have 4.). Niddy noddy, swift, and ball winder if you have them.
