Romney is a Longwool breed originally from the Romney Marsh area of southeast England. on the softer end of the Longwool spectrum, it still has excellent strength, shine and drape. The fleece for our yarn comes from both white and natural colored sheep.

Farm source: hand selected fleeces from Weather Lea Farm, Solitude and Day Spring in Loudoun County, Virginia and Rockbridge Farm in Pennsylvania.

Description

The long fibers of both Romney and mohair give this single surprising strength. Available in a heathered gray or a variegated natural white to natural gray with long runs of color. Some of each base dyed with natural dyes. The tightish spin gives weaving and knitting or crochet projects a little “homespun” texture. The color interest from the color shifts show best in light colors. 
yarn character: woolen spun single. Beautiful heathered color and gray to white transitions created during spinning. Lots of texture and color interest for weaving and knitting. Knitting the single can bias off square a little bit. Softens when washed.
fiber content/ care: 95% Romney wool, 5% mohair. Pre-washed. Hand wash warm with low agitation, lay flat to dry.
